No. 223/1939:

DEFENCE FORCES (BILLETING REQUISITIONS) ORDER, 1939.

DEFENCE FORCES (BILLETING REQUISITIONS) ORDER, 1939.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 173 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (No. 30 of 1923), (as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution) that the Government may at any time or times by order declare that a state of emergency exists in Ireland, or in any parts or part (to be specified in such order) thereof and may by the same order authorise any officer, not below the rank of Commandant, to be named in such order, commanding any part of the Forces in any part of Ireland in which a state of emergency is by such order declared to exist, to issue a billeting requisition under the said Section 173 :

NOW, THEREFORE, the Government in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sub-section (1) of Section 173 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (No. 30 of 1923) (as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution) and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Defence Forces (Billeting Requisitions) Order, 1939.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937) applies to this Order.

3. It is hereby declared that a state of emergency exists in Ireland.

4. Each of the officers named in the Schedule hereto is hereby authorised to issue a billeting requisition under Section 173 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (No. 30 of 1923).

SCHEDULE.

MAJOR GENERAL SEOSAMH MAC SUIBHNE,

Commanding troops quartered within

the Curragh Command.

COLONEL SEAMUS McGORAN,

Commanding troops quartered within

the Eastern Command.

MAJOR JAMES HANRAHAN,

Commanding troops quartered within

the Southern Command.

COLONEL JOHN J. McCABE,

Commanding troops quartered within

the Western Command.
