PUBLIC HEALTH (INFECTIOUS DISEASES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1943.

PUBLIC HEALTH (INFECTIOUS DISEASES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1943.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

WHEREAS in pursuance of the Public Health (Ireland) Acts, 1878 to 1919, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health (hereinafter referred to as " the Minister ") did by the Public Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations, 1941, make provision for the notification, prevention and treatment of certain epidemic, endemic or infectious diseases as therein provided :—

AND WHEREAS the disease known as " diarrhœa and enteritis " is an infectious disease :

AND WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the provisions of the said Regulations to the said disease of diarrhœa and enteritis in the areas mentioned in the schedule to these Regulations :

NOW, THEREFORE, the Minister in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Public Health (Ireland) Acts, 1878 to 1919, and of all other powers in that behalf enabling him, does hereby make the following regulations, that is to say :—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Public Health (Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Regulations, 1943.

2. These regulations shall come into force on the 1st day of July, 1943.

3. In these regulations the expression " the Principal Regulations " means the Public Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations, 1941 ; the expression " former rural district " means the area of a rural district as constituted on the first day of October, 1925, together with the area of every (if any) urban district which has been added to such rural district after the said 1st day of October, 1925.

4. The provisions of the Principal Regulations shall apply and have effect in relation to any child under the age of two years within any of the areas mentioned in the schedule to these regulations who is suffering from the disease known as " diarrhœa and enteritis " as if the said disease were included among the diseases mentioned in the First Schedule to the Principal Regulations.

5. The provisions of Article 3 of the Principal Regulations shall apply in relation to the duties imposed by these regulations and to the alterations effected by these regulations in the duties imposed by the Principal Regulations on medical practitioners resident or practising within any of the areas mentioned in the schedule to these regulations.

6. These regulations and the Principal Regulations shall be construed as one, and may be collectively cited as the Public Health (Infectious Diseases) Regulations, 1941 and 1943.

SCHEDULE.

Every County Borough.

Every borough, other than a County Borough.

The following urban districts, that is to say :—Bray, Cobh, Dundalk and Tralee.

Dublin County Health District.

The following former rural districts, that is to say :—Cork, Limerick Number 1, Waterford Number 1, and Waterford Number 2.
