LOCAL AUTHORITIES (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) ORDER, 1946. | ||
DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH. | ||
The Minister for Local Government and Public Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 and sub-sections (7) and (8) of section 67 of the Local Government Act, 1946 , hereby orders as follows :— | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Allowances to Members) Order, 1946. | ||
2. (1) The allowance to be paid by a local authority to a member of such authority pursuant to sub-section (7) of section 67 of the Local Government Act, 1946 , in respect of a period during which such member is obliged by reason of attending a meeting of such authority to remain away from his home shall be | ||
(a) four shillings and sixpence where such period is a continuous period of less than seven hours and more than three hours, and | ||
(b) seven shillings where such period is a continuous period of not less than seven hours. | ||
(2) Where, during the same period, a person attends meetings of more than one local authority, such person shall be paid one such allowance only in respect of the said period. | ||
3. Before a local authority pays any such allowance to a member, such member shall furnish to the local authority in writing a claim for the said allowance giving particulars of the following matters :— | ||
(a) the date and place of the meeting or meetings attended by the member, and | ||
(b) the precise hours at which the member left home to attend the meeting and at which he returned to his home. | ||
