I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 89 of the Transport Act, 1944 (No. 21 of 1944), hereby order as follows :--
|
|
|
1. This Order may be cited as the Transport Act, 1944 (Alteration of Maximum Railway Charges of the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee and the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway Company) Order, 1951.
|
|
|
2. The maximum charges applicable to each of the following railway companies--
|
|
|
the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee,
|
|
|
the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway Company,
|
|
|
for traffic by rail are hereby altered by the substitution of the charges set out in the Schedule to this Order for the appropriate charges at present in operation and the altered charges shall come into operation on the 15th day of October, 1951.
|
|
|
3. On the commencement of this Order, the Transport Act, 1944 (Alteration of Maximum Railway Charges of the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee and the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway Company) Order, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 401 of 1947 ), shall cease to have effect.
|
|
|

SCHEDULE
|
|
|
PART I
|
|
|
Maximum railway charges applicable to the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee and the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway Company as modified and set out in the undermentioned pages of the Order of the Court of the Railway Tribunal dated the 24th June, 1940, under the provisions of Section 31 of the Railways Act, 1924 , to be altered as follows :--

Maximum railway charges as modified and set out in the Order of the Court of the Railway Tribunal dated the 24th June, 1940, in the undermentioned thereof :--

To be altered as follows :
|
Pages 1 to 7 both inclusive
|
Charges to be increased by thirty-one per cent. subject to the following condition :--In determining the amount to be added to the existing maximum charges fractions of one penny if less than one-half to be dropped and if one-half more to be charges as one penny.
|

PART II
|
|
|
Substitution for the appropriate maximum railway charges in operation immediately prior to the date upon which this Order shall take effect of the altered maximum railway charges as set out hereunder :--

(A) Charges for the Conveyance of Passengers.
|
|
|
(i) For each passenger carried--1·772d. per mile.
|
|
|
(ii) Scale of charges for Season Tickets.
