DUBLIN PARKING TEMPORARY RULES, 1972. |
||
I, MICHAEL J. WYMES, Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 90 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), and with the consent of the Minister for Local Government, hereby make the following temporary rules in respect of the area comprising the county borough of Dublin, the borough of Dún Laoghaire, the county of Dublin and the town of Balbriggan: |

1. These rules may be cited as the Dublin Parking Temporary Rules, 1972. |
||
2. These rules shall come into operation on the 28th day of February, 1972. |
||
3. Where on a public road parking is permitted or restricted at the edge of the road by means of a traffic sign, a vehicle may be parked only if it is parked within eighteen inches of that edge. |
||
4. (1) Where a roadway marking authorised by Article 12 (1) (i) (inserted by the Regulations of 1969) of the Regulations of 1962 is not accompanied by an information plate, the prohibition or restriction on the parking of vehicles imposed by the roadway marking shall apply during business hours. |
||
(2) In this rule-- |
||
"business hours" means the period from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on a weekday which is not a Saturday or a holiday; |
||
"holiday" means any of the following days-- |
||
St. Patrick's Day or, if that is a Sunday, the next day, |
||
Good Friday, |
||
Easter Monday, |
||
the first Monday in June, |
||
the first Monday in August. |
||
Christmas Day or, if that is a Sunday, the 27th day of December, |
||
St. Stephen's Day or, if that is a Sunday, the next day, |
||
any day appointed under the Public Holidays Act, 1924 (No. 56 of 1924), to be a bank holiday in addition to or instead of one of the above seven days; |
||
"information plate" means a plate of the type authorised by and described in Part IX (inserted by the Regulations of 1969) of the First Schedule to the Regulations of 1962; |
||
"the Regulations of 1962" means the Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 ( S.I. No. 171 of 1962 ); |
||
"the Regulations of 1969" means the Road Traffic (Signs) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 217 of 1969 ). |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
1. Rule 3 provides that a vehicle parked on a roadway shall not be parked more than eighteen inches from the edge of such roadway. |
||
2. Rule 4 provides that where a roadway marking (single yellow line) is not accompanied by an information plate the prohibition on parking shall apply during business hours. |
