HARBOUR RATES (DUNDALK HARBOUR) ORDER, 1973.

I, MICHAEL O'KENNEDY, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 104 of the Harbours Act, 1946 (No. 9 of 1946), and the Transport Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), and after compliance with section 106 of that Act, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Harbour Rates (Dundalk Harbour) Order, 1973.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 27th day of February, 1973.

2. Section 43 of the Dundalk Harbour and Port Act, 1925 (No. 3 (Private) of 1925), is hereby amended by the insertion after "from time to time determine" of "or the net register tonnage of such vessel, whichever is the greater".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to authorise the Dundalk Harbour Commissioners to introduce net register tonnage as an alternative basis to 50% of gross register tonnage for the purposes of calculating liability for tonnage dues.
