EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (CRYSTAL GLASS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1974.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Crystal Glass) (Amendment) Regulations, 1974.

(2) The European Communities (Crystal Glass) Regulations, 1972 ( S.I. No. 312 of 1972 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Crystal Glass) Regulations, 1972 and 1974.

(3) These Regulations will come into operation on the first day of June, 1974.

2. The European Communities (Crystal Glass) Regulations, 1972, are hereby amended as follows:

( a ) in column (b) of Annex I "Kristallijnglas" shall be substituted for "Kristallynglas" and "Sonoorglas" for "Sonorglas"

( b ) in the portion of Annex II headed "Determination of K₂O":

(i) "HNO₃" shall be substituted for "HC1"

(ii) "tetraphenylboride" shall be substituted for "tetraphenylborate" (twice).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The official English text of EEC Directive No. 69/493 of 15 December, 1969 relating to crystal glass, contained technical errors in the Annexes. These were incorporated in the European Communities (Crystal Glass) Regulations 1972 which gave effect to that Directive. The purpose of these amending regulations is to correct these errors.
