DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES ACT, 1972 (PART IV DECLARATION) ORDER, 1980

I, Gene Fitzgerald, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 24 of the Dangerous Substances Act. 1972 (No. 10 of 1972), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (Part IV Declaration) Order, 1980, and shall come into operation on the 15th day of September, 1980.

2. Each substance (whether or not a stabiliser has been added to it or it contains impurities which are normal to its manufacture) specified in the Schedule to this Order is hereby declared to be a dangerous substance for the purposes of Part IV of the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (No. 10 of 1972), on the ground that in the opinion of the Minister the substance constitutes a potential source of danger to person or property.

Hydrogen peroxide and solutions of hydrogen peroxide containing more than 60 per cent hydrogen peroxide
13 Methanol (methyl alcohol, wood spirit)

15 Methyl ethyl ketone
16 Nitric acid
-- containing more than 70 per cent pure acid
-- containing more than 55 per cent but not more than 70 per cent pure acid
17 Potassium cyanide, solutions of
18 Potash lye (Potassium hydroxide, solutions of)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order declares twenty-five substances to be dangerous for the purposes of Part IV of the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 (No. 10 of 1972).
