NURSES ACT, 1985 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1986.

NURSES ACT, 1985 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1986.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Nurses Act, 1985 (No. 18 of 1985), hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Nurses Act, 1985 (Commencement) Order, 1986.

2. Sections 5, 26 to 54 and 56 to 59 of the Nurses Act, 1985 and the First and Second Schedules to the said Act shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1986.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this commencement order is to bring into operation as from 1st September, 1986 the main provisions of the Nurses Act, 1985 which provide for the registration, education and control of nurses by An Bord Altranais (the Nursing Board) which will enter into its duties under the Act from that date.

The sections of the Act not referred to in this Order have already been brought into operation for the purpose of setting up An Bord Altranais.
