The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 14 of the Social Welfare Act, 1994 (No. 4 of 1994), hereby order as follows-- |

| Citation. | ||

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1994 (Part IV) (Commencement) Order, 1994. |
||
| Commencement. | ||
|
2. Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1994 shall come into operation on the 28th day of October, 1994. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
|
This Order brings Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1994 into effect from 28th October, 1994. |
||
|
Part IV provides for the introduction of a new Survivor's Pension scheme under which widowers will become entitled to a pension on the basis of the existing conditions applied in determining entitlement to Widow's (Contributory) Pension. |
