SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1996 (SECTION 7) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1996

The Minister for Social Welfare under the powers conferred on him by section 7 (4) of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (No. 7 of 1996), hereby orders as follows:

Citation.

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (Section 7) (Commencement) Order, 1996.

Commencement.

2. Section 7 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 shall come into operation on the 13th day of June, 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides that section 7 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 will come into operation on 10 June, 1996.

Section 7 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 provides for the continued payment of child dependant allowances, for up to 13 weeks, to people in receipt of such increases at the full rate who have been unemployed for 12 months or more and who take up employment which is expected to last for at least 4 weeks.
