The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 16 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (No. 7 of 1996), hereby orders as follows: |

| Citation. | ||
|
1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (Part IV) (Commencement) Order, 1996. |
||
| Commencement. | ||
|
2. Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 shall come into operation on the 2nd day of October, 1996. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
|
This Order provides that Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 will come into operation with effect from the 2nd day of October, 1996. |
||
|
Part IV of the 1996 Act provides for the introduction of a new Disability Allowance which replaces the existing Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance scheme. |
||
