STATISTICS (TOURISM) ORDER, 2000.

I, SEAMUS BRENNAN, Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 25(1) of the Statistics Act, 1993 (No. 21 of 1993) , and the Statistics (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 327 of 1997 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Statistics (Tourism) Order, 2000.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on 1 August, 2000, and shall cease to have effect on 31 December, 2004.

2. This Order applies to the following undertakings:

(a) collective tourist accommodation establishments as specified in Article 2 of Council Directive 95/57/EC of 23 November 19951 , and

(b) a person who, for commercial gain, provides the service of bed and breakfast in an accommodation establishment.

3. The Central Statistics Office shall be provided with the information specified in Article 4 of this Order in statistical form pursuant to surveys (the first of which shall be in August 2000) undertaken by the Central Statistics Office covering periods of at least one month and shall be so provided in accordance with directions under section 26 of the Statistics Act, 1993 ( No. 21 of 1993 ).

4. An undertaking to which this Order applies is hereby required to provide the Central Statistics Office with information in relation to its accommodation availability, capacity and occupancy and, in particular, shall so provide the information specified in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULE

1. Particulars of accommodation availability.

2. Particulars of accommodation capacity normally available, detailing number of bedrooms/ dormitories/camping pitches/static and touring caravans and number of bedspaces.

3. Particulars of any changes in accommodation capacity referred to in paragraph 2 of this Schedule.

4. Particulars of accommodation usage on a daily basis, detailing arrivals, nights spent, rooms/ dormitories/caravans/camping pitches occupied and country of residence of guests.

5. Particulars of accommodation usage on a monthly basis, detailing arrivals, nights spent, rooms/ dormitories/caravans/camping pitches occupied and country of residence of guests.
