SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 2000 (SECTIONS 18 AND 19) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 2000.

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000) , hereby orders as follows:

Citation.

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (Sections 18 and 19) (Commencement) Order, 2000.

Commencement.

2. Sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 (No. 4 of 2000) , shall come into operation on 27 September, 2000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order provides for the commencement of Sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 .

Sections 18 and 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 2000 provide for a change in the method of assessment of income from self-employment for claimants of Farm Assist and for certain low-income fishermen on Unemployment Assistance. These provisions include a reduction from 80% to 70% in the rate of gross income assessed, and an increase of £100 in the disregards for qualified children.
