SOCIAL WELFARE ACT 2005 (SECTIONS 7 and 8) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2006

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 7 and 8 of the Social Welfare Act 2005 (No. 30 of 2005), hereby orders as follows:

Citation.

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act 2005 (Sections 7 and 8) (Commencement) Order 2006.

Commencement.

The 1^st day of March 2006 is appointed as the day on which sections 7(1)(a)(ii), 7(1)(a)(iii), 7(1)(b), 7(2) and 8(1)(a)(i) of the Social Welfare Act 2005 (No. 30 of 2005), come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides for the commencement of Sections 7(1)(a)(ii), 7(1)(a)(iii), 7(1)(b), 7(2) and 8(1)(a)(i) of the Social Welfare Act 2005 which provide for the extension of the duration of payment of Maternity and Adoptive Benefit consequential on Budget 2006. These regulations come into effect from 1 March 2006.
