I, Mary Coughlan, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive 2006/26/EC of 2 March 20061 , hereby make the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and come into operation on 31 December 2006. 2. The European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) Regulations 2005 (S.I. 69 of 2005) are amended, in Regulation 2 (1), by substituting for the definition -�the Directive-� (inserted by the European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 ( S.I. No. 773 of 2005 ))the following- |

-� -�Directive-� means Directive 2003/37/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 20032 as amended by Commission Directive 2005/13/EC of 21 February 20053 , Commission Directive 2005/67/EC of 18 October 20054 and Commission Directive 2006/26/EC of 2 March 2006;-�. 3. The European Communities (Agricultural or Forestry Tractors Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 ( S.I. No. 773 of 2005 ) are revoked. |

These Regulations align Community technical regulations and standards with the corresponding global technical regulations and standards. It also lays down the maximum permissible laden mass and the maximum permissible mass per axle. It brings in changes to the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices and also changes to glazing and coupling of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors. |
