LITTER POLLUTION (INCREASED NOTICE PAYMENT) ORDER 2007

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

�Iris Oifigi�il� of 31st July, 2007.

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 14(4) of the Waste Management (Amendment) Act, 2001 (No. 36 of 2001) (as adapted by the Environment and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2003 ( S.I. No. 233 of 2003 )) hereby orders as follows-

1. This Order may be cited as the Litter Pollution (Increased Notice Payment) Order 2007.

2. In this Order, �the Litter Pollution Act 1997 � means the Litter Pollution Act, 1997 (No. 12 of 1997) as amended by the Waste Management (Amendment) Act, 2001 (No. 36 of 2001) and Part 4 of the Protection of the Environment Act 2003 (No. 27 of 2003).

3. This Order shall come into operation on the 30th September 2007.

4. Section 28 (1) (b) of the Litter Pollution Act 1997 is amended by-

the substitution of ��150� for ��125�.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order amends section 28(1)(b) of the Litter Pollution Act, 1997 as amended by Section 14(3) of the Waste Management (Amendment) Act, 2001 and provides that the amount of the on-the-spot litter fine shall be �150.
