Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 7th May, 2010.

I, BRIAN COWEN, Taoiseach, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 25(1) of the Statistics Act 1993 (No. 21 of 1993) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Regulation (EC) No. 1166/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 1 , hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Statistics (Census of Agriculture) Order 2010.

2. In this Order "person" includes an undertaking.

3. This Order applies to a person who produces agricultural products including-

(a) horticultural and other crops, and

(b) cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry and other livestock.

4. A person to whom this Order applies shall provide the Central Statistics Office with information in relation to his activities as specified in the Schedule as and from 1 June 2010, unless otherwise stated.

5. The Statistics (Census of Agriculture) Order 2000 ( S.I. No. 132 of 2000 ) is revoked.

SCHEDULE

1.Location of the holding.

2.Telephone number at which contact can be made.

3.Description of agricultural activities carried out.

4.Particulars of any agriculture activity produced according to organic production methods.

5.Description of non-agricultural activities engaged in from which an income is earned.

6.The area used for agricultural activities.

7.Particulars of the areas under various horticultural and other crops.

8.Analysis of the division of the holding for use in various agricultural activities.

9.Particulars of the types and numbers of livestock.

10.Any other matters which may be relevant to agricultural activities to include management structures, training, any specialised agriculture, fragmentation of the holding, environmental practices, use of equipment for renewable energy production, use of commonage, and rental of lands.

11.Herd numbers.

12.Particulars of rural development measures benefiting the holding, from1 January 2008.

13.Particulars of the workforce engaged and time spent on agricultural activities, and the importance of other gainful activities directly related to the holding during the period from 1 June 2009 to 31 May 2010.
