Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 23rd December, 2011.

I, MICHAEL NOONAN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 20 (4)(a) of the Finance Act 2011 (No. 6 of 2011), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Finance Act 2011 (Section 20) (Commencement) Order 2011.

2. The first day of January 2012 is appointed as the day on which section 20 of the Finance Act 2011 (No. 6 of 2011), insofar as it is not in operation, comes into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This order brings into operation on 1 January 2012 the provisions of section 20 of the Finance Act 2011 , other than subsection (2) which came into force on 1 January 2011. The provisions covered by this Commencement Order provide for substantial reform of the operation of relevant contracts tax (RCT).
