Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, PASCHAL DONOHOE, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 32B(6) (inserted by section 34 (1) of the State Airports (Shannon Group) Act 2014 (No. 27 of 2014)) of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act 1998 (No. 24 of 1998), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act 1998 (IAS Scheme Amendment) (Commencement) Order 2014.

2. The day appointed as the day on which subsections (1) and (5) of section 32B (inserted by section 34 (1) of the State Airports (Shannon Group) Act 2014 (No. 27 of 2014)) of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act 1998 (No. 24 of 1998) come into operation is 17 November 2014.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation sections 32B(1) and 32B(5) of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act 1998 , as inserted by section 34 (1) of the State Airports (Shannon Group) Act 2014 , facilitating the trustees to amend the provisions of the Irish Airlines (General Employees) Superannuation Scheme and also providing for the cessation of the revaluation of preserved benefits under that Scheme where the trustees exercise the powers under 32B(1).
