MARRIAGE LAW (IRELAND) AMENDMENT ACT 1873 MARRIAGE LAW (IRELAND) AMENDMENT ACT 1873 - LONG TITLE An Act to amend the Law relating to Marriages in Ireland in certain cases. [15th May 1873] Preamble (which recites doubts whether the Marriage Law (I) Amendment Act 1863 (c.27) extends to places of public worship used by any church or religious community who are not Roman Catholics and who do not describe themselves as Protestants) rep. by SLR 1893 (No.2) Extension of provisions of 1863 c.27. MARRIAGE LAW (IRELAND) AMENDMENT ACT 1873 - SECT 1 1. All the provisions of the said Act relating to the registration of places of public worship shall be deemed to extend and apply to places of public worship used by any such church or religious community as aforesaid; and all the provisions of the said Act, and of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844, and of the Acts amending and extending the said Acts or either of them, relating to marriages between persons one or both of whom shall belong to any church, denomination, or body of Protestant Christians, so far as the same are now in force and applicable, shall be deemed to extend and shall extend and apply to marriages between persons one or both of whom shall belong to any such church or religious community as aforesaid. S.2 rep. with saving SL(R) 1977 MARRIAGE LAW (IRELAND) AMENDMENT ACT 1873 - SECT 3 Short title. 3. This Act may be cited for all purposes as "The Marriage Law (Ireland) Amendment Act, 1873"; and the Marriage Law (Ireland) Amendment Act, 1863, and this Act may be cited together for all purposes as "The Marriage Law (Ireland) Amendment Acts, 1863 and 1873." MARRIAGE LAW (IRELAND) AMENDMENT ACT 1873 - SECT 4 Construction of Act. 4. This Act and the Marriage Law (Ireland) Amendment Act, 1863, so far as the same is not inconsistent with this Act, shall be construed together as one Act.
