Coming into operation
1st October 2009
The Department of the Environment makes the following By-Laws in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 65(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1).
1. These By-Laws may be cited as the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) (Amendment) By-Laws (Northern Ireland) 2009 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2009.
2. In the Schedule to the By-Laws made in respect of Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951(2) for the entry for Glengall Street substitute–
"GLENGALL STREET |
North Side: from a point 31 metres east of the east kerbline of Durham Street for a distance of 14 metres. Carriages shall stand in a single line by the kerbline and parallel therewith, facing east. | 2 | At any time |
South Side: from a point 73 metres east of the east kerbline of Durham Street for a distance of 32 metres. Carriages shall stand in a single line by the kerbline and parallel therewith, facing east. | 5 | At any time" |

These By-Laws amend the Schedule to the Motor Hackney Carriages (Belfast) By-Laws made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951 by–
(a) altering the position of the taxi stand on the south side of Glengall Street and decreasing the number of taxis which may stand from 6 to 5; and
(b) making provision for a new taxi stand on the north side of Glengall Street.
