The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 19I(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1).
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Access to Driver Licensing Records) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011 and shall come into operation on 6th February 2012.
(2) In these Regulations "the 1981 Order" means the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981.
2. The purposes for which persons specified in Article 19I(1) of the 1981 Order may be given access to information made available to them under that paragraph are-
(a)the prevention, investigation or prosecution of a contravention of any provision of the following enactments-
(i)the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981;
(ii)the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(2);
(iii)the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 2007(3);
(iv)the Road Traffic Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1996(4);
(v)the Road Traffic Act 1988(5);
(vi)the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988(6); and
(vii)the Road Safety Act 2006(7); and
(b)ascertaining whether a person has had an order made in relation to him under-
(c)Article 37A(1) or (5) (disqualification from driving: further provision) of the Child Support (Northern Ireland) Order 1991(8); or
(i)Article 91(1) (driving disqualification for any offence) of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2008(9).

These Regulations determine the purposes for which information held by the Department for the purposes of Part II of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and made available to the persons specified in article 19I of that Order may be used.
A Regulatory Impact Assessment has not been produced for these Regulations as there is no impact on the costs to business or the voluntary sector.
