The Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(2) and (3) of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015(1), makes the following Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Juries Regulations (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on 14th December 2016.
2.-(1) The Juries Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996(2) are amended as follows.
(2) In regulation 4-
(a)for paragraph (2), substitute-
"(2) The Divisional Jurors List for each division may be divided into Parts as directed by the Department of Justice.";
(b)in paragraph (3), after "Divisional Jurors Lists", insert "where";
(c)omit paragraph (4).
(3) Omit Schedule 1A.

This Order amends the Juries Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 (S.R. 1996 No.269) ("the 1996 Regulations") in consequence of the provisions in Part 1 of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015 ("the Act") which create a single jurisdiction for county courts and magistrates' courts, and provide for Northern Ireland to be divided into administrative court divisions by direction of the Department of Justice.
Regulation 4 of the 1996 Regulations provides for the Divisional Jurors Lists to be divided into Parts, each containing the names of jurors living in local government wards specified in tables set out in Schedule 1A to the 1996 Regulations.
Article 2 of this Order amends the 1996 Regulations so that the Divisional Jurors Lists may instead be divided into Parts as directed by the Department of Justice.
