Office of Fair Trading (Decision Notice) [2006] UKICO FS50070739 (06 June 2006)

Summary: The complainant requested information about an OFT investigation. The OFT refused the request stating that, given the size of the collection of relevant documents, the cost of complying with the request would have exceeded the statutory 'appropriate limit', a decision the Commissioner has decided was justified. The Commissioner has also found that OFT was justified in treating the request made as a single request rather than as a number of separate ones, and that by providing a summary of the type of documents held, it satisfied the statutory duty to provide advice and assistance to the applicant.
Section of Act/EIR & Finding: FOI 1 - Complaint Not upheld
