Summary: The complainant requested information relating to an application for a firearms licence. The NIO refused the request in reliance on the exemptions at section 31 and 41 of the Act. The Commissioner-™s decision is that the NIO correctly refused the request, although he finds that some of the information was exempt under section 40(1). The Commissioner requires no steps to be taken, but he finds that the NIO breached the Act in failing to provide a refusal notice within the statutory time for response. Information Tribunal appeal number EA/2011/0260 dismissed.
