Summary: The complainant made a freedom of information request to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) for information relating to the issuing of a consumer credit licence. The OFT refused the request under the exemptions in sections 31(1)(g) (Law enforcement), 42 (Legal professional privilege) and 44 (Prohibitions on disclosure) of FOIA. The Commissioner has investigated the complaint and found that all of the requested information is exempt from disclosure under section 31(1)(1)(g) and the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. The Commissioner requires no steps to be taken.
