21 July 2015, Local government (Other)
The complainant has requested H.M. Verderers of the Forest of Dean (‘the Verderers’) to disclose information relating to the feral boar in the Forest of Dean. The Verderers explained that they are not a public authority for the purposes of the EIR. They therefore refused to respond to this request under the EIR. The Commissioner finds that the Verderers are a public authority for the purposes of the EIR. The Commissioner therefore requires the Verderers to respond to this information request in accordance with its obligations under the EIR. The public authority must take this step within 35 calendar days of the date of this decision notice. Failure to comply may result in the Commissioner making written certification of this fact to the High Court pursuant to section 54 of the Act and may be dealt with as a contempt of court.
