Merseyside Police

The complainant has asked to know whether an individual that he believed to be a paedophile had ever been the subject of police investigation. Merseyside Police refused to confirm or deny whether it held the requested information, citing the exemption at section 30(3) (investigations and proceedings) of the FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that Merseyside Police was entitled by section 30(3) to refuse to confirm or deny whether it held the requested information.

FOI 30: Complaint not upheld

Decision notice: fs50693653
