University of London

The complainant requested information about the student records of Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen. The Board of Trustees of the University of London relied on section 40(2) of the FOIA to withhold the requested information. The Commissioner’s decision is that the requested information is President Tsai’s personal data and that disclosing it otherwise than under the FOIA would have breached the GDPR principles. The University was therefore entitled to rely on section 40(2) of the FOIA to withhold the information. The Commissioner does not require further steps.

FOI 40: Complaint not upheld

Decision notice: IC-40405-S7L3
