Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 20(3) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 and of section 36 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety and Load Line Conventions) Act 1932 both as having effect by virtue of section 3(6) of the Post Office Act 1969 and in pursuance of section 16(1) of the first mentioned Act and sections 13(4) and 15(6) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Channel Islands) Order 1969 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1969.
2. The provisions of section 3(1) to (5) of the Post Office Act 1969 (other than the words in subsection (1)(i) relating to the Defamation Act 1952 and the Defamation Act (Northern Ireland) 1955 shall extend to the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
3. Accordingly-
(a)in the Schedule to the Wireless Telegraphy (Channel Islands) Order 1952(1) (which specifies adaptations and modifications of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 as extended to the Channel Islands), in paragraphs 8, 9, 10 and 11 for the words "Postmaster General", wherever they occur, there shall be substituted the words "Minister of Posts and Telecommunications";
(b)in the Wireless Telegraphy (Channel Islands) Order 1967(2) (which extends certain provisions of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 to the Channel Islands with exceptions, adaptations and modifications) there shall be added at the end of the Schedule the following paragraph:-
"12. For any reference to the Postmaster General there shall be substituted a reference to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.".

This Order extends section 3 of the Post Office Act 1969 (transfer of the Postmaster General's functions with respect to wireless telegraphy to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications) to the Channel Islands and amends consequentially two Orders in Council applying to wireless telegraphy there.
