In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 72(2) of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969, I hereby make the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Children and Young Persons (Termination of Transitional Provisions) Order 1971 and shall come into operation on 15th April 1971.
2. The day specified for the purposes of section 72(2) of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969 (transitional provisions) shall be 15th April 1971, being the day on and after which the transitional provisions set out in Part II of Schedule 4 to the said Act of 1969 will, in the opinion of the Secretary of State, be unnecessary in consequence of the coming into force of provisions of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968.

This Order specifies 15th April 1971 for the purposes of section 72(2) of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969, as the day on which the transitional provisions contained in Part II of Schedule 4 to the Act shall cease to have effect.
These provisions, which came into force on 1st January 1971, relate to the interim period after the coming into force of certain provisions of Part I of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969 and before the coming into force of certain provisions of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968. The relevant provisions (Part III) of the 1968 Act are brought into force on 15th April 1971 by the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1971 (S.I. 1971/184); accordingly, this Order terminates the provisions of Part II of Schedule 4 to the 1969 Act on that date.
