Part I of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 contains provisions to enable the Secretary of State to obtain information relating to the sale and hire of television sets. These Regulations make new provision as to the information to be supplied by television dealers in place of the provisions contained in The Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 (Prescribed Forms and Addresses) Regulations 1967.
Section 1 of the Act contains provisions which enable the Secretary of State to compile a register of television dealers and which require a television dealer to give to the Secretary of State a notice containing certain information. The form of this notice is prescribed by Regulation 3 and Form No. 1 in Schedule 1.
Section 2 of the Act requires a television dealer to give to the Secretary of State a notification of each sale or letting of a television set. The form of this notification is prescribed by Regulation 4 and may be in either Form No. 2 or Form No. 3 in Schedule 1 or in the form of a magnetic tape.
Section 2 of the Act also requires a television dealer to keep a record of each sale or letting of a television set. The form of this record is prescribed by Regulation 5 and Form No. 4 in Schedule 1.
Regulation 6 prescribes the address to which a notice under section 1(5) of the Act or a notification under section 2(3) of the Act is to be sent by a television dealer.
The Schedule to the Act specifies the particulars which are to be contained in any notification given or record made under section 2 of the Act. Regulation 7 of these Regulations amends that Schedule. The content of the new forms corresponds with the particulars specified in the Schedule to the Act and that Schedule, as amended, is now, for convenience of reference, set out in Schedule 2 to these Regulations.
