The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 15(2) of, and paragraph 4 of Schedule 5 to, the Transport Act 1981, being satisfied that the duties of the National Ports Council under paragraphs 1 to 3 of that Schedule have been completed, hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1981 (Dissolution of National Ports Council) (Final) Order 1981.

2. The National Ports Council shall cease to exist on 1st December 1981.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

By this Order the Secretary of State for Transport, in pursuance of paragraph 4 of Schedule 5 to the Transport Act 1981, directs that the National Ports Council shall cease to exist on 1st December 1981. The Transport Act 1981 (Dissolution of National Ports Council) (Appointed Day) Order 1981 (S.I. 1981/1364) appointed 1st October 1981 as the day upon which in accordance with section 15(1) of the Transport Act 1981 the functions of the National Ports Council should determine but subject to the provisions of Part I of Schedule 5 to that Act which in paragraphs 1 to 3 specified certain duties of the Council relating to its dissolution.

This Order is made as provided by paragraph 4 of Schedule 5 to the Act of 1981 on the Secretary of State for Transport being satisfied that those duties have been completed.

By virtue of section 40(3) of the Act of 1981 the repeal in Schedule 12 of that Act of the entry for the National Ports Council in Part II of Schedule 1 to the House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975 comes into force on the date specified in this Order for the Council ceasing to exist.
