The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 29 of the Reservoirs Act 1975 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:-
1. This order may be cited as the Reservoirs Act 1975 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1983.
2. The following provisions of the Reservoirs Act 1975, namely-
section 1 (Ambit of Act, and interpretation)
section 4 (Qualification of engineers)
section 5 (Power to prescribe by regulations)
section 29 (Commencement)
section 30 (Short title and extent)
Schedule 1
shall come into force on 30th November 1983.

This order brings into force the provisions of the Reservoirs Act 1975 which enable the Secretary of State to carry out the required consultation before constituting panels of civil engineers, and which empower him to make regulations for prescribing anything required by the Act to be prescribed.
