In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 35 of the Police Act 1964(1), and after taking into consideration the recommendations made by the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom and furnishing the said Board with a draft of the Regulations in accordance with section 2(1) of the Police Negotiating Board Act 1980(2), I hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police Cadets (Amendment) Regulations 1987.
2. These Regulations shall come into force on 16th November 1987 and shall have effect for the purposes of regulation 3(a) and (c) as from 1st September 1986.
3. The Police Cadets Regulations 1979((3)) shall be amended as follows-
(a)in regulation 13 for the words "in Schedule 2 hereto" there shall be substituted the words-
"(a)in respect of the period beginning with 1st September 1986 and ending with 31st August 1987, in Part I of the Table in Schedule 2 hereto and,
(b)in respect of the period thereafter, in Part II of the said Table";
(b)in regulation 17, for the words "£0·50" in paragraph (1) there shall be substituted the words "£1·27", and for the words "£36" in paragraph (2) there shall be substituted the words "£92";
(c)for the Table in Schedule 2 (scales of pay) there shall be substituted the following Table-

(d)for paragraph 2 of Schedule 3 (charge for board and lodging) there shall be substituted the following paragraph-
"2. The annual rate of charge shall be-
(a)in the case of a police cadet attached to the City of London or Metropolitan Police force, £480;
(b)in any other case, £444.".

These Regulations amend the Police Cadets Regulations 1979 with effect, save as otherwise provided, from 16th November 1987.
Regulation 3(a) and (c) increase the pay of cadets from 1st September 1986 to31st August 1987 and, again, from 1st September 1987 (retrospective effect is authorisedby section 33(4), as applied by section 35(2), of the Police Act 1964).
Regulation 3(b) increases the maximum and minimum levels of travel allowance payable to cadets.
Regulation 3(d) increases charges payable by cadets for board and lodging provided by police authorities.
