1. The length of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road as from 1st August 1988.
2. In this Order -
(a)"the deposited plan" means the plan numbered HA 10/2E/281, marked "The Trunk Road A1081 (Bell Roundabout - London Colney Roundabout, Hertfordshire) (Detrunking) Order 1988" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;
(b)"principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads, and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(c)"the Trunk Road" means the London Colney Bypass (A1081).
3. This Order shall come into force on 1st August 1988 and may be cited as the Trunk Road A1081 (Bell Roundabout - London Colney Roundabout, Hertfordshire) (Detrunking) Order 1988.

The length of the Trunk Road ceasing to be a trunk road extends from and includes Bell Roundabout (at the junction of the trunk road with the M25 Motorway and the C118 local road) to the roundabout junction of the Trunk Road with the A414, all in the County of Hertfordshire; a distance of about 2.1 kilometres measured along the route of that road.
