The Licensing Act 1988 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1988

11th July 1988

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 20(3) of the Licensing Act 1988(1), I hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Licensing Act 1988 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1988.

2. The provisions of the Licensing Act 1988 specified in the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on 1st August 1988.

SCHEDULEPROVISIONS OF THE LICENSING ACT 1988 COMING INTO FORCE ON 1st AUGUST 1988

Provisions of the ActSubject matter of provisions
Section 2.Extension of period for consumption of intoxicating liquor outside permitted hours.
Section 4.Abolition of renewals of extended hours orders.
Section 6.Exemption orders and special hours certificates: fees.
Section 7.Transfer of powers with respect to general orders of exemption in London.
Section 8.Power to vary permitted hours in on-licensed vineyard premises.
Section 10.Disqualified premises - garages.
Section 16.Sale of intoxicating liquor on licensed premises to persons under 18.
Section 17.Sales to or by persons under 18 of intoxicating liquor on wholesale premises.
Section 18.Prohibition of unsupervised off-sales by persons under 18.
Section 19(1) to the extent necessary to bring into force paragraphs 2, 8(b), 10, 16, 17 and 18 of Schedule 3.Minor amendments of the principal Act(2).
Section 19(2) so far as it relates to the repeals in sections 9(5), 71(3), 72(2), 73(1), 92(4) and 169 of the principal Act specified in Schedule 4.Repeals.
Section 20.Short title, interpretation, commencement and extent.
Paragraphs 2, 8(b), 10, 16, 17 and 18 of Schedule 3.Minor amendments of the principal Act.
Schedule 4 so far as it relates to sections 9(5), 71(3), 72(2), 73(1), 92(4) and 169 of the principal Act.Repeals.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 1st August 1988 the provisions of the Licensing Act 1988 set out in the Schedule to the Order.
