Whereas the Secretary of State considers that in the interests of efficiency and safety of navigation, the Fowey Harbour Commissioners, being the competent harbour authority for Fowey Harbour, should exercise pilotage functions both as respects the harbour and as respects Par and Charlestown; in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(3) of the Pilotage Act 1987(1) he, now, therefore, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Fowey Harbour, Par and Charlestown (Application of Pilotage Act 1987) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st October 1988.
2. In this Order "the Commissioners" means the Fowey Harbour Commissioners.
3. The Pilotage Act 1987 shall apply to Fowey Harbour Commissioners as if their harbour included the area specified at Article 4.
4. The area so specified shall comprise in addition to Fowey Harbour-
(a)Such waters at Par as may be bounded by an imaginary straight line drawn from Fishing Point (latitude 50° 20'"23 N longitude 4° 43'"00 W) to a point on the East side of the Bay at latitude 50° 19'"50 N longitude 4° 40'"89 W.
(b)Such waters at Charlestown as may be bounded by an imaginary straight line drawn due south (true) from Polmear Island in the West, a line drawn due South (true) from Landrion Point (latitude 50° 19'"87 N longitude 4° 44'"68 E) in the East and a line joining the ends of the two aforementioned lines at latitude 50° 19'"5 N.

This Order provides that the Pilotage Act 1987 shall apply to the Fowey Harbour Commissioners as if their harbour included waters at Par and Charlestown.
This has the effect that the Commissioners shall exercise the pilotage functions conferred on them by the Act as competent harbour authority in respect of this extended area.
