The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33(3) of the Petroleum and Submarine Pipe-lines Act 1975(1) (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after giving those persons affected an opportunity of being heard with respect to the matter, hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Submarine Pipe-lines (Designated Owners) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st May 1988.
2. For the purposes of Part III of the Act-
(a)British Gas Public Limited Company, whose registered office is situated at Rivermill House, 152 Grosvenor Road, London, SW1V 3JL, is designated as the owner of so much of the pipe-lines specified in Part I of Schedule 1 hereto as are controlled pipe-lines and the owner of the controlled pipe-line specified in Part II of that Schedule; and
(b)Hydrocarbons Great Britain Limited, whose registered office is situated at Rivermill House, 152 Grosvenor Road, London, SW1V 3JL, is designated as the owner of so much of the pipe-line specified in Part I of Schedule 2 hereto as is a controlled pipe-line and the owner of the controlled pipe-lines specified in Part II of that Schedule.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order designates British Gas p.l.c. and Hydrocarbons Great Britain Limited as the owners of the pipe-lines described in Schedules 1 and 2 respectively. In the case of pipe-lines with a landfall the designation applies only to those parts which are in controlled waters, that is, the territorial sea and areas designated under the Continental Shelf Act 1964 (c. 29).
