The Submarine Pipe-lines (Designated Owners) (No. 11) Order 1988

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33(3) of the Petroleum and Submarine Pipe-lines Act 1975(1) (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after giving those persons affected an opportunity of being heard with respect to the matter, hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as the Submarine Pipe-lines (Designated Owners) (No. 11) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st July 1988.

2. For the purposes of Part III of the Act, BP Petroleum Development Limited, whose registered office is at Britannic House, Moor Lane, London EC2Y 9BU, is hereby designated as the owner of so much of the pipe-lines specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto as are controlled pipe-lines and the owner of the controlled pipe-lines specified in Part II of the Schedule.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates BP Petroleum Development Limited as the owner of the pipe-lines described in the Schedule. In the case of the pipe-lines specified in Part I of the Schedule, the designation applies only to those parts which are in controlled waters, that is the territorial sea and areas designated under the Continental Shelf Act 1964 (c. 29).

The pipe-lines referred to in Part I of the Schedule lie between installations above the West Sole gasfield and British Gas's terminal at Easington in Humberside. Those referred to in Part II lie between different installations above the West Sole gasfield (situated north east of the coast of Humberside), between installations above the Magnus and Ninian oilfields (situated north east of the Shetland Islands), and between specified wells into the Magnus oilfield and an installation above that oilfield.
