The Police (Grant) (Amendment) Order 1989

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 31 and 60(2) of the Police Act 1964(1), I hereby, with the approval of the Treasury, make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Police (Grant) (Amendment) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 14th August 1989.

2. The Police (Grant) Order 1966(2) shall be amended by inserting in article 4, after paragraph (1)(a), the following sub-paragraph:

"(aa)in article 1(1) for the proportion "51 per cent" there were substituted the proportion "52 per cent";".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Police (Grant) Order 1966 to increase, from 51 per cent to 52 per cent of the expenses incurred for police purposes, the rate of grant payable in respect of the metropolitan police district. This provision replaces the Imperial and National Services Grant under section 1 of the Police Act 1909 (c. 40), which has been discontinued.
