The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4(3) of the Fair Trading Act 1973(1), hereby makes the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Monopolies and Mergers Commission (Increase in Membership) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 1st September 1989.
2. The maximum number of regular members of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission is hereby increased to fifty.
3. The Monopolies and Mergers Commission (Increase in Membership) Order 1982(2) is hereby revoked.

This Order supersedes the Monopolies and Mergers Commission (Increase in Membership) Order 1982 (S.I. 1982/815). It increases the maximum number of regular members of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission from 32 to 50.
