1. This Order may be cited as the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation (Variation) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 31st January 1990.
2. The area designated a free zone by the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 1984(3) shall be varied so as to consist of the area of 643 acres in the Borough of Sefton in the County of Merseyside, shown enclosed by a red line on a map (being of a scale of 2 5 inches to a mile), marked "Map referred to in article 2 of the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation (Variation) Order 1990", signed by a Collector of Customs and Excise and dated 15th December 1989.
3. The map referred to in article 2 above shall be kept by the Commissioners at their Headquarters, New King's Beam House, 22 Upper Ground, London SE1 9PJ (and a copy thereof at the offices of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company) in substitution for the map substituted by article 4 of the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation (Variation) Order 1988(4).

This Order varies the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 1984 as amended by the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation (Variation) Order 1988 by adding a further 22 acres to the 621 acres currently designated as a free zone. The further acreage comprises the North Langton and Brocklebank Docks in the Port of Liverpool.

The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company was appointed the responsible authority by article 3 of the Free Zone (Liverpool) Designation Order 1984 (S.I. 1984/1209).
