SALMON AND FRESHWATER FISHERIES

The Secretary of State, on application to him by the River Deveron District Salmon Fishery Board, having carried out all necessary consultations, complied with all necessary procedures and considered all representations and objections as required by paragraphs 3, 4 and 7 of Schedule 1 to the Salmon Act 1986(1), as applied by section 8(5) of that Act, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8 of that Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the River Deveron Salmon Fishery District (Baits and Lures) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force on 27th August 1990.
2. Natural prawns and shrimps (whether fresh or preserved, dyed or natural colour) and any part thereof are, in relation to the River Deveron salmon fishery district, specified for the purposes of the definition of "rod and line" in section 24(1) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951(2).

These Regulations specify natural prawns and shrimps and any part of them for the purposes of the definition of "rod and line" in section 24(1) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries (Protection) (Scotland) Act 1951. They apply throughout the River Deveron salmon fishery district for the whole of each year. The effect is to prohibit the use of natural prawns and shrimps (or any part of them) as bait when fishing by rod and line for salmon and sea trout.
