1. The lengths of trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal roads as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Warwickshire that the special road is open for through traffic.
2. In this Order-
(1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(2) (i) "the deposited plan" | means the plan contained in the the folio numbered HA10/2 WMRO (L) XII marked "The Winchester-Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Stratford-upon-Avon) De-Trunking Order 1990", signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY; |
(ii)"principal road" | as a classification for a highway means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; |
(iii)"the special road" | means the motorway to be provided by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the M40 London-Oxford-Birmingham Motorway (Waterstock to Warwick Section) and Connecting Roads (No. 1) Scheme 1984(3), (No. 2) Scheme 1985(4) and (Supplementary) Scheme 1985(5); and |
(iv)"the trunk road" | means the Winchester-Preston Trunk Road (A34). |
3. This Order shall come into force on 16th November 1990 and may be cited as the Winchester-Preston Trunk Road (A34) (Stratford-upon-Avon) De-Trunking Order 1990.

1. That length of the trunk road at Stratford-upon-Avon in the County of Warwickshire which is known locally as Guild Street and Bridge Foot for a distance of 740 metres from its junction with Arden Street and Birmingham Road to its junction with Bridgeway, marked "A" on the deposited plan.
2. That length of the tunk road at Stratford-upon-Avon in the County of Warwickshire which is known locally as Bridgeway for a distance of 340 metres from its junction with Warwick Road to its junction with Bridge Foot, marked "B" on the deposited plan.
3. That length of the trunk road at Stratford-upon-Avon in the County of Warwickshire which is known locally as Warwick Road for a distance of 225 metres from its junction with Guild Street and Bridge Foot to its junction with Bridgeway, marked "C" on the deposited plan.
