The State Awards (State Bursaries for Adult Education) (Wales)(Amendment) Regulations 1991

The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powersconferred by sections 3(c) and 4(2) and (3) of the Education Act 1962(1), hereby makes the following Regulations:-

1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the State Awards (State Bursariesfor Adult Education) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 1991 and shall comeinto force on24th May 1991.

(2) The Regulations apply to persons ordinarily resident in Wales.

2. Schedule 2 to the State Awards (State Bursaries for Adult Education)(Wales) Regulations 1979(2)shall be amended in accordance with these Regulations.

3. In paragraph 1(1) of that Schedule, after the definition of"relevant date", there shall be inserted the following definition

4. In paragraphs 1(2), 3 and 5 of that Schedule there shall besubstituted for the words"European Community" (wherever they appear), the words"relevant territory".

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the State Awards (State Bursaries for AdultEducation) (Wales) Regulations 1979 so that, for the purpose ofdetermining eligibility for an award, residence in the former GermanDemocratic Republic prior to the unification of the Federal Republic ofGermany is treated as residence in the European Community.
