ATOMIC ENERGY AND RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES

The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 3(1) of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1986(1) ("the Act") and with the approval of the Treasury hereby makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before and approved by a resolution of the House of Commons:-�
1. This Order may be cited as the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (Limit on Borrowing) Order 1991 and shall come into force on the third day after the day on which it is made.
2. £200 million is hereby specified as the sum which the aggregate amount outstanding by way of principal in respect of-�
(a)money borrowed by the Authority or a wholly owned subsidiary of theirs;
(b)money borrowed for the repayment of which the Authority or a wholly owned subsidiary of theirs is a guarantor or surety;
(c)the Authority's commencing capital debt; and
(d)sums issued by the Treasury in fulfilment of guarantees under section 5 of the Act (guarantees of borrowing by the Authority or their subsidiaries),
shall not exceed.

Section 3(1) of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1986 limits the aggregate amount outstanding by way of principal in respect of borrowing and guarantees in connection with the finances of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.
This Order increases the limit from £150 million to £200 million.
