CHANGES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS

Whereas under section 17(1) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973(1) the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland on 21st January 1991 submitted to the Secretary of State a report on a review conducted under section 14(1) of that Act in which they made proposals for the transfer of certain areas between City of Glasgow District and Monklands District, both in Strathclyde Region, and in which they also made proposals for changes in electoral arrangements consequential on those changes in local government areas;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order to give effect to the proposals of the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland as submitted to him:
1. This Order may be cited as the City of Glasgow and Monklands Districts (Bargeddie) Boundaries Amendment Order 1993, and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.
2. In this Order-
"the 1977 Regulations" means the Local Government Area Changes (Scotland) Regula tions 1977(2);
"boundary map" means the map prepared by The Scottish Office marked "The City of Glasgow and Monklands Districts (Bargeddie) Boundaries Amendment Order 1993" and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations;
and, in the Schedule to this Order, any reference to a district boundary is a reference to such a boundary as it exists immediately before the commencement of this Order.
3. Save insofar as they can have no application in relation to the area changes effected by this Order, the provisions of the 1977 Regulations shall apply in relation thereto for the purposes of, or in consequence of, this Order.
4.-(1) That part of City of Glasgow District in Strathclyde Region, being the Area A described in Part I of the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated, hatched and marked area "A" on the boundary map, shall be transferred to Monklands District in Strathclyde Region.
(2) That part of Monklands District in Strathclyde Region, being the Area B described in Part II of the Schedule to this Order and shown delineated, hatched and marked area "B" on the boundary map, shall be transferred to City of Glasgow District in Strathclyde Region.
5.-(1) Area A described in Part I of the Schedule to this Order (being the Area A transferred by article 4(1) of this Order)-
(a)shall cease to form part of electoral division 53 (Coatbridge South) of Strathclyde Region(3) and ward 5 (Bargeddie and Langloan) of Monklands District(4); and
(b)shall form part of electoral division 26 (Mount Vernon/Baillieston) of Strathclyde Region and ward 36 (Baillieston) of City of Glasgow District(5).
(2) Area B described in Part II of the Schedule to this Order (being the Area B transferred by article 4(2) of this Order)-
(a)shall cease to form part of electoral division 26 (Mount Vernon/Baillieston) of Strathclyde Region and ward 36 (Baillieston) of City of Glasgow District; and
(b)shall form part of electoral division 53 (Coatbridge South) of Strathclyde Region and ward 5 (Bargeddie and Langloan) of Monklands District.

Articles 2, 4 and 5
The area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the City of Glasgow/Monklands district boundary (Grid Reference NS 69536480) southwestwards along the eastern side of the M73 motorway and slip road leading to the A8 (T) road to rejoin the district boundary at a point (Grid Reference NS 69366427); then generally northwestwards, northeastwards and eastwards along that boundary to the point of commencement. PART II
The area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the City of Glasgow/Monklands district boundary (Grid Reference NS 69366427) generally southeastwards along the northeastern side of the roundabout which connects the M73 motorway with the M8 motorway and the A8 (T) road and thereafter of the slip road to the A8 (T) road to rejoin the district boundary at a point (Grid Reference NS 69666393); then northeastwards and northwestwards along that boundary to the point of commencement.

This Order transfers between City of Glasgow and Monklands Districts in Strathclyde Region on 1st April 1993 two areas amounting in total to approximately 26.4 hectares and makes consequential changes to electoral arrangements.
The map annexed to and forming part of this note gives a general guide to the areas affected by this Order.
Copies of the detailed boundary map defined in article 2 of this Order may be inspected at the offices of any of the local authorities referred to in this Order, and may be inspected at or purchased from the Scottish Office Environment Department's Map Library, New St Andrew's House, Edinburgh, EH1 3TG.
S.I. 1977/8.
The electoral divisions of Strathclyde Region were constituted by S.I. 1979/673 to which there are amendments not relevant to this Order.
The wards of Monklands District were constituted by S.I. 1980/1681.
The wards of City of Glasgow District were constituted by S.I. 1981/620.
