The Traffic Director for London, following a direction given to him by the Secretary of State for Transport under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991(1) and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 6 and 124(1)(d) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(2), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:-�
1. This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Islington) (Bus Lanes) Red Route Traffic Order 1993 Variation Order 1994, and shall come into force on 12th December 1994.
2. The A1 Trunk Road (Islington) (Bus Lanes) Red Route Traffic Order 1993(3) is varied as provided by the following provisions of this Order.
3. In article 2, after the definition of "carriageway", insert the following definition-�
""disabled person" shall be construed in accordance with the Local Authorities' Traffic Orders (Exemptions for Disabled Persons) (England and Wales) Regulations 1986(4);".
4. In article 6, in paragraph (1), for subparagraph (d) substitute the following subparagraph-�
"(d)a vehicle which
(i)is constructed or adapted for the carriage of disabled persons and their -companions, and which is being used to provide a service for the carriage of such persons, and
(ii)displays so as to be conspicuous from outside the vehicle a disc in a form approved by or with the authority of the Traffic Director for London and containing the words DIAL-A-RIDE;".
5. In Part II of the Schedule, in paragraph 4, for the words "256 and 258" substitute the words "278 and 274/276".
